What’s good around Goodrington? Everything!
South Devon is one of the UK’s most beautiful and popular holiday destinations and Goodrington is right next to Paignton which is part of the English Riviera along with Torquay, Brixham and Babbacombe. You can take a walk along the seafront from Paignton to get here or pop along in the car, better yet, why not stay nearby; there’s a range of accommodation options all within a few minutes of the waterpark or right next door is the brand new Premier Inn, perfect for a great value family break.
Goodrington is a great place to spend some of your holiday or for a day trip to the seaside. There’s a brilliant beach, with rockpools at low tide to explore. It’s also the gateway to the English Riviera Geopark and the Seashore Centre is here to show you all of the fascinating facts about the local sealife, they sometimes have some events on the beach too. Right alongside the waterpark is the Sunrise Beach and Snack store, which has everything you could need for a day out at the great British seaside; buckets, spades, nets, sandwiches and snacks and is open year round (weather permitting, if it’s too awful in the winter – we shut up shop early!).
In need of an ice-cream, your coffee fix or a hot snack? The Octopus @ the Octagon beach front ice cream and food outlet will have just what you need, serving a variety of food, delicious Marshfield ice-creams and Sundaes and Seattle’s Best Coffee (open seasonally).
Looking for something else to do while you’re here? There are go-carts, pedalos and ringos to hire. The steam train from the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway Company puffs gently behind the waterpark and its Goodrington Station is just around the corner where you can join a trip along to the picturesque station at Churston, then on through the wooded slopes of Long Wood bordering the Dart Estuary to Kingswear, this is one of the finest heritage steam railway journeys anywhere in Europe. Young’s Park is just over the road, with its boating lake and play park. You can even enjoy a quiet pint in the Inn on the Quay overlooking the water’s edge.
